Honey is always one of our favorite cocktail ingredients. Unlike sugar, different honeys have distinct flavor profiles that add to the cocktail experience - making pairing honey and liquor a challenge to savor for seasoned bartenders and fun experiment for those of us who just like to whip up a mixed drink or two.
This Smoke the Hive cocktail combines smokey Mezcal with honey and curaçao for a deliciously refreshing cocktail that pairs well with brunch, lunch, or dinner.

Choosing the right honey for your cocktail is one of the most creative parts of your recipe. Monofloral varietal honeys have such a wide array of colors and flavors, and don't get us started on our delicious infused honeys! When you're just starting out, go for a mild honey like Acacia, Tupelo, or Wildflower. As you expand your repertoire, play around with more robust and distinct flavors like Buckwheat!
1/4 oz honey simple syrup (we recommend Wildflower or Sourwood Honey)
1/2 oz lemon juice
3/4 oz dry curaçao
1 1/2 oz Mezcal
Shake and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish: Lemon twist or orange zest, expressed.
